The sink is in…

I was a little bit intimdated by the whole attaching the faucet and drains thing.  But I was surprised by how easy it was.  And I do love the plumber’s putty.

Maybe I shouldn’t say it was easy since I haven’t connected it to the water supply yet and I don’t know if I am going to have leaks.  Leaks would erase the “easy” memories for me.  Apparently I have to wait 24 hours after installing the parts before I can connect it to the water.  Today I’m going to work on hooking up the plumbing, which I really hope goes well.  The waiting is difficult because I’m going to want to know right away if I have installed everything correctly.

Getting the sink to fit into the counter was a bit difficult.  The sink instructions said we should hook some of the mounting clips on before we put the sink in.  The “how-to” website I was using said we should apply the silicone caulk around the edge of the sink before we installed.  Well, we did both as directed and the sink wouldn’t go in because the clips got in the way and our hands got messy because we were holding on to the caulked part trying to wedge the sink into place.  After we finally got the sink in, we went to work hooking up the mounting clips which was really difficult because of the thickness of the counter.  We only got three clips to work, which I’m hoping is enough.  The sink is firmly in, so we must have done something right.

Now I shall take a moment to brag about S’s caulking abilities again.  She is a super caulker.  She caulks like noboy’s business.  She could caulk for a living.  She is a caulking g_d.

So, there it is.  The new sink is in.  My lovely faucet is installed.  Everything is pretty.  Now I just have to cross my fingers that it is all going to work properly.
